Between the Stacks || Rory and Molly
He was the quiet sort, the one who preferred to do quiet, unobtrusive activities that were meant for solitary enjoyment but that didn’t mean that he didn’t have friends. Ever since arriving back at Hogwarts, Rory had managed to make several close friends who he trusted implicitly and strangely enough, they were not limited to his own House, although he enjoyed the company of a few of the friends who shared his temperament.
Rory had spent hours out of doors today, working on his first assignment for art class. He took one last scathing look at the drawing, still unsure whether he liked it or not. He put the parchment away and stood up from the grass, dusting off the back of his robes and making his way back up toward the main entrance of Hogwarts Castle. He planned to put his books and things back in the dormitories and then he was going to head back to the library and try and find a good book to get lost in.
Once his books and art supplies were back in his trunk for safe keeping, he headed back out of the common room and down the hall, heading toward the library. Once there, he took a moment to get his bearings, making his way further into the room and just browsing the shelves for anything interesting that he could get lost reading. He finally found a book on the Medicinal Uses of Herbs in Spells and he thumbed through it, just perusing it.
Rory had gotten so engrossed in the studies and information inside the book that he hadn’t noticed that one of his housemates and best friends had slid into the seat across from him. When he heard the rustle of the fabric of their robes he acknowledged them simply with a nod and a soft “Hello” not bothering to look up and see who it was.
Molly had a few friends in her year from mainly from Ravenclaw and her own house. She tried to get along with the rest of her housemates, but for the most part she hung around in the background. She had a shy nature and really only opened up to people once she had really gotten to know them.
She was watching a game of exploding snap going on in the common room. Currently Lucy seemed be winning through sheer luck. Molly was secretly rooting for Jenny though because she had lost the previous two games. It seemed to be a best out of 5 game because they had been at this for quite some time. She was getting tired of being on the couch for so long and decided to head out for a walk.
Her feet led her to the library. After greeting the librarian, who simply nodded in turn, she wandered amongst the shelves checking to see if they had any new interesting books. She had just passed a few shelves when she noticed one of her best friends sitting down engrossed in a book of his own.
She had met Rory on the boat ride over and they had both become friends over the years due to their similar nature. She slid into the seat across from him. Of course it was a Herbology book, he was good at the subject. “Hey Rory,” she responded. “So what new facts have we learnt today?”
